Truth or Dare Questions
88 questions ยท By Dima Tretyak, creator of DeepTalk ยท Updated
Truth or dare only works if the truths are interesting and the dares are fun to watch. Too tame and everyone gets bored. Too harsh and someone goes home early. The truths and dares below aim for the middle: revealing, a little embarrassing, never cruel.
They're split into truths and dares, with versions for friends, for couples and for playing over text. Every dare is safe, needs no alcohol and can be done in a living room or on a phone. A few come from the question decks in the DeepTalk app, and the rest were written for this page.

How to use these questions
- Set house rules first: anyone can pass on any truth or dare, no questions asked.
- Keep dares safe and quick. Nothing that involves danger, alcohol or doing something to someone who didn't agree.
- Match the group. Save deeper truths for close friends and later in the night.
- Take turns fairly. The person who just answered picks who goes next.
- Playing over text? Use the over-text sections and allow a screenshot or voice note as proof.
Play them as cards instead
The Fun & Crazy deck in DeepTalk has 110 questions like these, one card at a time, plus 19 other decks for couples and friends.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play truth or dare?
Players take turns. On your turn, someone asks "truth or dare?" If you pick truth, you answer a question honestly. If you pick dare, you do the challenge they give you. Agree before you start that anyone can pass.
What are good truth questions?
Good truths are personal without being cruel, like "What's the pettiest reason you've ever stopped talking to someone?" or "What's a compliment you've never forgotten?" Start with funny ones and save the deeper truths for later.
What are some good dares over text?
Dares over text should be easy to prove, like sending a voice memo, a silly selfie or a short poem about the other player. The dares-over-text section above has ten ready to go.
Is truth or dare good for couples?
Yes. Couples versions swap party dares for small romantic challenges and use truths about your relationship. Keep it kind: the point is to learn something new, not to start a fight.
