Paranoia Questions
109 questions ยท By Dima Tretyak, creator of DeepTalk ยท Updated
Paranoia is a party game about not knowing the question. A player whispers a question to the person next to them, like "Who here would you least want to read your diary?" That person answers out loud with a name and nothing else. Then a coin flip decides whether the room gets to hear the question. On tails, the person named has to live without knowing why.
The questions below go from funny and clean to juicy, spicy and a bit savage, with rounds for old friends, couples' nights, deep talks and group chats. Each one asks for a name, not a story. Mix sections as you go, and skip anything that would sting someone in the room.

How to use these questions
- Sit in a circle. You need at least three players, and the game gets better with five or more.
- The first player whispers a question to the person on their left. Nobody else should hear it.
- That person answers out loud with one name from the room. They can name anyone, including themselves or the person who asked.
- Flip a coin. Heads, the answerer tells everyone the question. Tails, it stays a secret.
- The answerer then whispers a new question to the person on their left, and the circle keeps going.
- Agree on any off-limits topics before you start, and keep the spicy and awkward sections for friends who know each other well.

Frequently asked questions
How do you play paranoia?
Players sit in a circle. One person whispers a question about the group to the player next to them, usually starting with "Who here" or "Who in this room." That player says a name out loud, then flips a coin. On heads they repeat the question for everyone. On tails it stays secret, and the next round starts with the answerer whispering a new question.
What is the coin flip for in paranoia?
It decides whether the question gets revealed. Nobody controls the reveal, so a name said out loud could come from a compliment or from something embarrassing, and the person named can't be sure which. Some groups skip the coin and let the answerer choose, or let the named player take a drink to hear the question.
How many people do you need to play paranoia?
At least three, so the answer isn't always one of the two people who know the question. It works best with five to ten players, so there are enough names to choose from and the secret questions pile up.
What are good paranoia questions?
Good ones make everyone stop and think before picking a name, like "Who here would you trust to set you up on a blind date?" or "Who in this room would crack first in a police interrogation?" Mix harmless questions with juicy ones, so a name said out loud could mean either.
Is paranoia a drinking game?
It can be. In one common version, when the coin keeps a question secret, the person named can take a drink to hear it. Other groups have the answerer drink to keep the question hidden. Agree on the rule before you start, keep it to sips, and the game works just as well with no drinks at all.
Can you play paranoia over text?
Yes, in a group chat. Send the question as a private message to one person. They post only a name in the group chat, then flip a coin or use a coin flip app to decide whether to share the question. The over text section above has questions written for a group chat.
